We wrap up the morning games on day two of the CSA Provincial T20 Cup.

Gauteng vs Easterns

The star-studded Gauteng were shocked by a disciplined Easterns bowling effort which reduced them to a par 150/9 with only Mitchell van Buuren (46 off 36) living up to the high expectations that come with playing for Gauteng. Imran Manack and Khwezi Gumede shared eight wickets between them to reduce the Champions to a low total. Gauteng’s 159 runs proved too much for Easterns as they were reduced to 138/6. Matthew Arnold top-scored with 70 off 47 deliveries. Carmi le Roux returned figures of 3-17 and the SA U19 captain Bryson Parsons returned figures of 1-14 in his 4 overs. Gauteng won by 12 runs.

Kwa-Zulu Natal vs Northerns

KZN Coastal batted first and posted a competitive 172/5 thanks to Prenelan Subrayen (35 off 25) and Blayde Capell (30 off 22). Eathan Bosch had a strike rate of 133.33 for his 24 runs which included 2 fours and a six. Luvuyo Nkese was the standout bowler for his figures of 2-27 in his 4 overs. Jonathan Vandiar (38 off 33) and Ruan de Swardt (37 off 26) fought back for Northerns. But Daryn Dupavillon (2-28 in 4 overs) helped reduce Northerns to 162/8. KZN Coastal won by 10 runs.

Northern Cape vs Kwa-Zulu Natal Inland

Northern Cape were skittled for 129/7 after being sent in to bat by KZN Inland. Jacques Snyman (27 off 15) and skipper Aubrey Swanepoel (25 off 19) made most of the runs for Northern Cape. Kerwin Mungroo (3-35 in 4 overs), Nduduzo Mfoza (2-25 in 4 overs) and Robbie Frylinck (1-18 in 4 overs) helped reduce Northern Cape to a low total. Cody Chetty’s 54 off 51 propelled KZN Inland to an eight-wicket victory. Aubrey and Beyers Swanepoel picked up a wicket apiece.

Eastern Province vs South Western Districts

Easterns Province were asked to bat first by SWD and they posted 184/6 in their 20 overs. Marco Marais and Joshua van Heerden put on an impressive opening stand of 72 runs before Bailey Aarons had van Heerden trapped lbw for 35 off 26. Marais did not disappoint as he breezed yet to another half century, he was stumped by Brendon Louw off the bowling of Tsepo Ndwandwa for 67 off 48. Kelly Smuts also chipped in with a half-century, he was run-out on 59 off 35 balls. SWD replied with a below-par 114/7. Jean du Plessis top-scored with 33 off 31. EP won by a mammoth 70 runs.

North West vs Limpopo

North West posted 146 all out in 20 overs after being sent in to bat first by Limpopo. Khaya Cotani (29 off 26) and Kagiso Rapulana (29 off 23) made decent contributions for North West. Andrew Rasemene grabbed three wickets for Limpopo, while Thomas Hobson and Alfred Mothoa picked up two wickets apiece. Andrea Agathangelou (56 off 34 deliveries) and Lerato Kgoatle (41 off 33 balls) led their side to a seven-wicket victory when Limpopo replied with a score of 149/3 in 18.2 overs

Mpumalanga vs Border

Border won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mpumalanga made an impressive 171/5, thanks to Tumi Koto (41 off 29) and Glen Adams (37 off 28 balls). Jason Niemand and Aya Gqamane were impressive for Border, they returned bowling figures of 2-29 (4 overs) and 1-17(3 overs) respectively. Siyabonga Mahima (4-33 in 4 overs) and Justin Watson (4-16 in 2.5 overs) ensured that Border were bowled out for only 118 runs with 3.1 overs left in the game. Mpumalanga won by 53 runs.
