The Proteas lost three wickets for 82 runs in the first session on Day 3, to go into lunch on 188-7 in the 2nd Test at Rawalpindi, writes Khalid Mohidin.

Pakistan took control of the Test match on Day 3.

They managed to get their desired early wicket. Quinton de Kock played a loose shot and chopped a Shaheen Afridi wider ball onto his stumps.

It was 114-5 when Wiaan Mulder came to the crease. He helped put on South Africa’s best partnership in the innings, with the support of Temba Bavuma.

Bavuma played the necessary anchor role, while Mulder was a little more positive in his approach, his six when he hit Yasir Shah over long-off was an indication of that.

But his urgency was his downfall too, he ran an unnecessary second and was run out on 33.

That was the end of their 49-run partnership.

George Linde played a small cameo with a couple of boundaries, and then he was bowled by a Hasan Ali slower delivery.

The Proteas batters were once again humiliated. They ended the session on 188-7 at lunch.
