We wrap up Day 3 of the CSA T20 Challenge, which saw Western Province Blitz stay top of the log with their second win and the Titans complete their first victory of the tournament.

WP Blitz vs Warriors

In the second game of the day, Western Province cruised to a second win by beating the Warriors with 3 overs to spare.

Wihan Lubbe was superb for the Warriors, leading his side’s charge and scoring 69* off 59 deliveries (6 fours 1 six). He was well supported by cameos from Lesiba Ngoepe (36 off 20 balls) and Tristan Stubbs (21 off 11 balls). The Warriors ended on 163/5.

WP needed to complete a record CSA T20 Challenge chase at St George’s park and managed to do so in style.

Richard Levi blitzed his way to 40 off 17 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes) which laid the foundation for his side. Jonathan Bird contributed 39 off 26 balls (1 six and 4 fours) which was key to the partnership at the top and to keeping the innings together.

It was, however, Dane Vilas (33 off 27 balls) and George Linde (33 off 24 balls) that kept the scoring rate up to take WP over the line.

The Blitz won by 7 wickets.

Titans vs Rocks

Quinton de Kock’s 72 off 61 balls helped the Titans set up a nail-biting victory by 3 runs against the Rocks in the CSA T20 Challenge

This was the first victory of the competition for the Titans, who defended 158-2.

De Kock and Gihahn Cloete were the stars for the Titans scoring the bulk of the runs, their 106-run partnership key to the free-flowing start.

Donovan Ferreira’s cameo 17-ball 27 (1 four, 1 six) was essential to their score and was key to their innings total.

De Kock hit 5 fours and 1 six in a cultured knock, making up for his duck in the first innings.

The Titans bowlers definitely deserve credit for defending their total, particularly Junior Dala (3-36) whose two wickets in the penultimate over, took the sting out of the Rocks’ chase.

The Titans won by 3 runs.
