Khalid Mohidin chats with Glenton Stuurman, whose career is a testament of hard work, dedication and belief in one’s dreams.
“What you put in, is what you get out”, those were the words that have always stuck with Glenton, told to him consistently by his late mother, Catherine Stuurman, who he laid to rest on October 17 2020.
On a post on Social Media, Glenton shared a warm, touching message to his mother: “Today I laid to rest the glue of this family, the pillar of my strength, the most unselfish person I know, the woman who showed me the way… You are already missed. I will hold on to our memories and promise you that I will make you proud, it doesn’t matter where. I know that I won’t get your messages before a game but one thing is for certain, I now know that you will be with me on that field and anywhere I go. May your soul rest in peace Mom. Love you always.”
One thing we know for sure, those words “What you put in, is what you get out”, is a perfect representation of Stuurman’s career.
He grafted long and hard for this moment, and there is no doubt the one person who instilled those values of determination and hard work, will be brimming proudly from the heavens above.
Stuurman was announced in the Proteas 24-man squad for the inbound England tour, which is his maiden international call-up, and he caught up with Khalid Mohidin in an exclusive interview on Cricket Fanatics Magazine’s YouTube channel.
He spoke about the opportunity, some of the struggles in his career, how he assesses himself as a bowler and shares what fans can expect from him in the white-ball format.
