The World Sports Betting Western Province Women secured a historic third consecutive Hollywoodbets Pro20 title after defeating the DP World Lions Women by four wickets in the final at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban on Friday.
Western Province’s bowlers laid the foundation for victory by restricting the Lions to just 75/8 in their 20 overs. Jenna Evans top-scored with 22, while Neo Molefe and Sunette Viljoen-Louw each contributed 10 in a difficult outing with the bat.
Tatum Le Roux led the bowling effort with 3/18, while Caitlin Wyngaard (2/15) and Delmari Tucker (1/10) kept the pressure on as the Lions struggled to build momentum.
In response, Western Province paced their chase well. Oluhle Siyo top-scored with 24 and Lara Goodall added 20, before captain Leah Jones finished unbeaten on 14 to guide her side to victory with eight balls to spare.
Despite the defeat, Lions skipper Raisibe Ntozakhe produced a standout bowling performance, claiming 4/9 to keep the contest alive deep into the chase.
Speaking after the match, Jones admitted the achievement had not fully sunk in.
“We made it tough for ourselves out there, but we always said it wasn’t going to be easy. Credit must go to the bowlers today, they were outstanding,” she said.
Jones also praised Nosipho Vezi for her consistency throughout the competition, despite the seamer going wicketless in the final.
