Day 3 saw Western Province claim the first win of the 4th round of the 4-Day Series, while the other teams still battle it out.
Western Province vs North West
On Day 1, half-centuries from Mika-eel Prince and Migael Pretorius were key to giving the away side a chance in the match after they found themselves 86/7. They managed to end the day on 236 all-out. Mthiwekhaya Nabe was particularly impressive with the ball for WP taking 5/51.
Province went in to bat and ended the day on 148/2. Yaseen Vallie (52) and David Bedingham (44).
After a flurry of wickets on Day 2, which saw Vallie out for 59 and Bedingham out for 51, George Linde (88) and Kyle Simmons (51) took Western Province into the lead after Migael Pretorius ripped through WP to bring up a six-for.
Western Province was 178-6 after Pretorius’ destruction. But they managed to take their lead above 100 to finish their innings on 345.
North West started Day 3 on 132/4 but a WP continued their clinical bowling performance. Kyle Simmons was the top wicket-taker with 4-24 as the visitors were all out for 181.
Needing 73 runs to win, the home side obliged to claim an eight-wicket win.
Titans vs Warriors
The Titans batted first. Dewald Brevis’ 110 and Sibonelo Makhanya’s 83 kept the innings together for the home side. They finished the day on 346/8 thanks to cameos around the pair.
Beyers Swanepoel was fantastic with the ball finishing the day with 4-68.
On Day 2 Swenepoel managed to take his 5th wicket as the Titans finished their innings on 383, largely thanks to Corbin Bosch who scored 57 not out.
The Warriors ended Day 2 on 176/2, Jiveshan Pillay not out on 96.
Pillay managed to reach his ton on Day 3, while the rest of the batters below him took advantage of the platform set.
Sinethemba Qeshile (66), Patrick Kruger (45), Marco Jansen (39) and Beyers Swanepoel (65 off 36 balls), took the visitors to 460 and into a 77-run lead.
The Titans ended Day 3 on 117/2, with Brevis and Kleinveldt both on 39.
Dolphins vs Lions
Marques Ackerman’s century kept the innings together for the home side. He scored 140 as the Dolphins posted 245/9 and declared.
Codi Yusuf starred with the ball and took 6-49.
The Lions will start day 2 on 65-2 with Zubayr Hamza and Ryan Rickelton at the crease.
Hamza batted well on Day 2 but was dismissed on 98. Day 3 will see the Lions start their innings on 217-5 with Wandile Makwetu on 42*.
On Day 3 Makwetu managed to get 65, but it was Bjorn Fortuin’s 77 not out that really hurt the Dolphins. The Lions finished the day on 358/8 with a lead of 113.
KZN-Inland vs Boland
Boland were all out for 232, with Keagen Petersen recording the only worthwhile score of 57.
KZN-Inland will start Day 2 with 17/1.
It was a difficult Day 2 for the KZN-I batters who managed to finish the day 147-5. Tian Koekemoer ended with 61 not out.
There was no play on Day 3.
