The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) has officially announced the contracted squads for World Sports Betting (WSB) Western Province Men’s and Women’s teams ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The WSB Western Province Men’s team has retained the core of its contracted players from the 2024/25 season and strengthened the squad with several strategic signings. The team’s clear objective is to win trophies more consistently, and the committee have focused on recruiting and retaining players who will help to achieve this goal.
The Boys In Blue welcome back Tshepo Moreki, who previously represented Western Province before spending a few seasons with the DP World Lions. The Senior Men’s squad also boasts two exciting new recruits: Jiveshan Pillay and Joshua van Heerden. Batsman van Heerden joins the WSB Newlands-based side from the Momentum Multiply Titans, while Pillay arrives from Dafabet Warriors.
WPCA are also excited to have signed current SA U19 player Raeeq Daniels on a Rookie contract for the 2025/26 season. Daniels has been part of WPCA pipeline, and we look forward to his progression in the upcoming season.
Following a successful season – winning the Hollywoodbets Pro 20 and finishing second in the Hollywoodbets Pro 50 – Claire Terblanche’s charges are eager to build on their momentum in the new season. The Women’s squad retains many key players and is proud to announce that Lara Goodall and Demi Tucker have been retained after both came off National Contracts. Claire expressed her excitement about having them available for selection on a permanent basis and looks forward to leveraging their national team experience to benefit the squad.
Corrie van Zyl, WPCA CEO, commented on the new contracts’ announcement: “We are excited about our new signings for the WSB Men’s team and believe they will help us achieve our goal of consistent winning performances.
We are also very proud of our National Contracted players, who will strengthen an already strong squad when representing the WSB Men’s team.
The success of the WSB Western Province Women’s team last season speaks to the strength and continuity of the squad. I am confident that Coach Claire will lead the team to even greater heights this coming season.”
