Wihan Lubbe put on a spectacular show at Kingsmead by scoring 83 off 42 balls for the Durban Heat, but he could not stall the Cape Town Blitz from squeezing out a 10-run win.
The all-rounder, who also plays for the Lions, played an integral role in his side’s attempted chase. After the Cape Town Blitz posted 174/6, the 26-year-old came to the crease at a higher position (No 3) than he is normally used to. A masterstroke by the brains trust at the Heat.
With his side on 52/2 after 7.2 overs, Lubbe boosted his side to 126-3 smashing five 6s and seven 4s en route to a 42-ball 83.
His wicket was the moment that swung momentum into the Cape Town Blitz’s favour.
Clinical bowling from the Blitz at the death sealed a win for the Cape Town side.
