Jonathan Vandiar’s 107 off 58 balls gave Northerns a perfect start to day one of the CSA Provincial T20 Cup, as we wrap up the afternoon games of the first day of the tournament.

Gauteng vs Northerns
Gauteng were asked to bat first by Northerns and they made 167/3. Joshua Richards (71 off 51) and Dominic Hendricks (49 off 43) accounted for most of the runs. Dayyaan Galiem picked up 2-27 in his 4 overs. Vandiar continued to impress when he followed up his 87 runs in the morning game against the Free State with a 107 not-out off just 58 deliveries. Vandiar’s brilliant century included 6 sixes and 11 fours. He helped the Northerns reply with 171/3 with 3.4 Overs to spare. Northerns won by 7 wickets.
Boland vs Northern Cape
Boland Stumbled to a score of 103/8 in their 20 overs. Thanks to the ever economical Ottneil Baartman who bowled almost 3 overs worth of dot balls (17 dots to be precise). Jacques Snyman returned figures of 3-15 in his 4 overs. Craig Alexander top-scored for Boland when he made 22 off 18 deliveries. Northern Cape chased the low total with 4.1 overs left in the game. Patrick Kruger top scored for Northern Cape when he made 40 off 32 balls at a strike rite of 125.
Border vs Limpopo
In their second game of the day, Sinethemba Qeshile’s men were sent in to bat first by the men from Limpopo. An opening stand worth 73 runs between Yaseen Vallie (38 off 26) and Gihahn Cloete (35 off 18) propelled the Border side to a competitive score of 174 runs in 19.5 overs. Border’s score proved to be enough to win them the game thanks to Jason Niemand’s 3 wickets and Phaphama Fojela’s two wickets to skittle Limpopo to 139/9 in their 20 Overs.
Western Province vs North West
A disappointing first day for Western Province saw them losing two in two on day one of the Provincial T20 Cup. After the defeat to Border in the morning game, Western Province lost the toss of their second game against North West and were asked to bat first. A 102 run-partnership between skipper Andre Malan (52 off 48) and Kyle Verreynne (57 off 33, including 4 sixes and 4 fours) propelled the side to a total of 163/6. North West managed to make exactly 163 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, with Shane Dadswell top-scoring with his 34 off 27 balls.
The match was decided with the super-over. North West were the victorious side.
Free State vs Easterns
After electing to bat first, Free Sate managed to post only 134/6 with Andries Gous making 64 off 52 deliveries. Dyllan Matthews returned figures of 3-17 in his 4 overs and Jurie Snyman returned figures of 2-21 in his 4 Overs. In reply, Easterns posted 138/1 in just 13.1 overs. Wihan Lubbe (77 off 40) and Snyman (46 off 34) lead the Easterns to their second win of the Day
Eastern Province vs Kwa-Zulu Natal Inland
Eastern Province decided to bat first and they scored 161 all out in 19.5 overs. Onke Nyaku was the only batsman that made big runs. He scored 50 off just 33 deliveries. Kyle Nipper returned figures of 3-22 in 4 overs. KZN Inland replied with 164/5 in 19 Overs. Robbie Frylinck top-scored with 51 off 25 deliveries at a strike rate of 204. Nyaku completed a brilliant all-round performance when he grabbed 3-16 in 3 overs.
