This weekend saw the Titans smash the Warriors, Knights crush the Lions and table-toppers Boland edge past North West.

An astonishing batting display by the Momentum Multiply Titans saw them record 440 in 43 overs to lay the platform for a 111-run win on the DLS Method against the Dafabet Warriors in their latest 1 Day Cup outing in Centurion on Sunday.

Asked to bat first by the visitors, openers Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Rivaldo Moonsamy both hit sensational centuries, which were supported by dashing performances from Dewald Brevis (75 off 44 balls, 6 fours, 6 sixes), Neil Brand (55* off 34 balls, 5 fours, 2 sixes) and Sibonelo Makhanya (46* off 22 balls)

Those numbers took the hosts to the second highest team total ever posted in South African domestic 50-over cricket, though the economy rate was by far the highest as they batted for only 43 overs on account of the weather. The Titans themselves hold the record of 453 against the NWU Dragons from two years earlier.

In reply, the Warriors 251 for seven in 32 overs after further wet weather shortened the game even more at SuperSport Park.

The remarkable result bolstered the home side up to fourth on the table, one place behind the Warriors.

Centurions Pretorius and Moonsamy had set the tone for their side by putting on 227 for the opening wicket inside 34 overs with the former blazing seven sixes in 107 off 69 balls (11 fours). The latter top-scored with 126 from 83 deliveries with 15 fours and six sixes.

Once the pair fell, Brevis cut loose at an even more rapid rate, before Brand and Makhanya, who thrashed four sixes, completed the carnage in the 43 overs set out at the start on account of overnight rain.

Three bowlers – Alfred Mothoa (1/89), Siya Plaatjie (1/89) and Senuran Muthusamy (2/80) – all conceded more than 80.

In a reply also affected by the weather, Matthew Breetzke top-scored with 94 off 72 balls (11 fours, 2 sixes), but with little support, that did little to trouble the scorecard as the hosts ran out bonus-point winners.

Meanwhile on Saturday, Goldrush Boland consolidated their position at the summit of the table with a narrow two-wicket win over the Dragons.

The Potchefstroom-based team batted first in Paarl and were bowled out for 179 thanks to career-best six for 18 by Proteas seamer Glenton Stuurman. Wihan Lubbe top-scored for the away side with 54 off 80 balls (4 fours).

Boland made heavy weather of the chase as they slipped to 87 for five, before Lehan Botha (66 off 67 balls, 8 fours, 2 sixes) did enough to carry them home safely with more than 10 overs to spare.

Finally, Jacques Snyman also recorded a career-best in Johannesburg. He produced one of the batting performances of the season when he clobbered eight sixes and 12 fours in an innings of 160 (118 balls) as the Knights thumped the DP World Lions by 74 runs on the DLS Method.

The opener was supported by Dominic Hendricks (58 off 83 balls, 4 fours) after being put in to bat at DP World Wanderers where they posted 292 for seven in 39 overs.

Matthew Pollard (3/56), Dane Piedt (2/30) and Tiaan Van Vuuren (2/39) then shared seven wickets as the hosts were restricted to 220 for eight in reply. Reeza Hendricks hit 54 (52 balls, 6 fours, 1 six) andMitchell van Buuren 54 off 73 balls (5 fours) – the Lions dropping to second bottom on the table.
