South Africa A completed a dominant innings-and-413-run victory over Bangladesh A in the first four-day match at the LC de Villiers Oval in Pretoria on Tuesday.

After piling up 647/6 declared in response to Bangladesh A’s first-innings total of 122, the hosts needed just 32.2 overs to dismiss the visitors for 112 in their second innings and wrap up the match inside three days.

Sinethemba Qeshile completed his double century before the declaration, finishing unbeaten on 200 from 263 balls, while captain Marques Ackerman’s magnificent 256 remained the highest score of a dominant South Africa A batting display.

The hosts resumed the third day on 622/5, with Qeshile on 190 and Delano Potgieter on 32.

Qeshile reached the 200-run milestone before South Africa A eventually declared on 647/6 after 130.4 overs, securing a massive first-innings advantage of 525 runs.

His unbeaten knock included 15 fours and five sixes.

Potgieter was the only wicket to fall before the declaration, adding 43 from 79 balls, while Gerald Coetzee finished unbeaten on four.

South Africa A’s 647 was built around two outstanding innings.

Ackerman struck 256 from 237 deliveries, including 24 fours and seven sixes, while Qeshile’s unbeaten double century ensured Bangladesh A were left facing an enormous task to save the match.

Zubayr Hamza also contributed 78, with Gavin Kaplan adding 38.

With Bangladesh A needing 525 runs merely to make South Africa A bat again, the hosts’ bowlers quickly went to work.

Tshepo Moreki struck first, bowling Mahmudul Hasan Joy for one before Codi Yusuf removed Shahadat Hossain for a duck.

Moreki then claimed his second when he dismissed Zakir Hasan for eight, leaving Bangladesh A struggling on 15/3.

Yusuf continued the collapse by removing Afif Hossain for six before dismissing Mohammad Naim for 30, who provided the visitors’ biggest contribution of the innings.

Moreki picked up his third wicket when he trapped Nayeem Hasan lbw for 13, reducing Bangladesh A to 78/6.

Delano Potgieter then took over.

He removed Bangladesh A captain Mahidul Islam Ankon for 18 before bowling Hasan Murad for two and dismissing Al Fahad for four to complete a three-wicket haul of his own.

Gerald Coetzee wrapped up the match when Iqbal Hossain Emon was caught by Hamza for four, leaving Bangladesh A all out for 112.

Yusuf finished with excellent figures of 3/19 from nine overs, while Potgieter claimed 3/18 from six overs.

Moreki returned 3/40 from 10 overs, including five maidens, with Coetzee taking the final wicket to finish with 1/29.

It capped a dominant performance from South Africa A across all three days.

After bowling Bangladesh A out for 122 on the opening day, Ackerman and Hamza rescued the hosts from 21/2 with a 170-run third-wicket partnership.

Ackerman then combined with Qeshile for a mammoth 287-run fourth-wicket stand as South Africa A completely took control of the match.

Qeshile carried that dominance into the third morning by completing his double century before the bowlers finished the job.

Across Bangladesh A’s two innings, South Africa A conceded just 234 runs and took all 20 wickets.
