Dean Elgar’s century along with half-centuries from Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock, stood out as top moments of the second session on day three of the 1st Test between India and South Africa, writes Ongama Gcwabe.

Elgar reached the milestone in 176 balls.

He and Faf du Plessis continued on 154-4 at the start of the second session. Elgar and Faf continued to put pressure on the Indian spinners with Faf reaching his half-century in the first three overs of the second session.

Ashwin bowled a flatter delivery on middle and Faf looked to flick it to mid-wicket but the ball found a faint edge onto the pad and was caught by Cheteshwar Pujara at leg-slip.

Quinton de Kock joined Elgar in the middle and they hammered a 114-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Between them, they have blasted 17 fours and 2 sixes.

At tea, South Africa are on 292-5. Elgar is on 133 off 250 balls while de Kock is on 69 off 98 deliveries.

Here’s a look at how Elgar and de Kock went about their business against the spinners on session two:
