Anrich Nortje took a second career five-for as the Proteas skittled Sri Lanka for 157 in their first innings of the second Test at the Wanderers, writes Khalid Mohidin.

After being 71 for 7, the visitors were skittled for 157.

The first session was sparked to life by an excellent spell from Wiaan Mulder, who took 3-1 in two overs as Sri Lanka went into lunch on 84-5.

Anrich Nortje continued his decent start, picking up his 3rd wicket by targeting that outside off line, which found Niroshan Dickwella’s edge. This produced an excellent diving catch from De Kock to his left.

Sri Lanka went six down for 96 runs.

Nortje picked up his fourth, with the wicket of Dashun Shanaka who played at a wide delivery and nicked one to the keeper.

With Sri Lanka reduced to 110-7, it was now about squeezing out as many extra runs as possible for the visitors.

Lutho Sipamla joined the wicket celebrations, by finding Hasaranga’s edge breaking a decent 39-run partnership.

The Sri Lankan tail did however manage to frustrate the Proteas bowlers slightly, bringing up their 150.

But Anrich Nortje then wrapped up the Sri Lanka innings with a deadly yorker as Nortje ended with 6-56, a personal best for him.

The Proteas scored 22-0 at tea, with Dean Elgar bringing up 4,000 Test runs.
