The SA U19 Women concluded the series with another victory over their Namibian counterparts on Thursday, 14 July 2022.
SA Women opted to bat first, setting the target to 190 runs. A half-century from Karabo Meso (66 off 52), helped the young women set a competitive total.
Kayla Reyneke smashed a quick 23 off 9 balls before she was caught LBW by Namibia’s Alice Kaukungwa (2/38). An all-round performance from Reyneke as she picked up two wickets in her single over.
Diara Ramlakan (28* off 19) and Jenna Evans (17* off 5) sealed the innings, with SA on 189/6 at the end of 20 overs.
The SA bowlers delivered another attacking performance to dismiss their opponents for 53 runs, winning the game by a massive 136 runs.
All SA bowlers got a chance to put the Namibian batters to the test. In their two overs, Nthabiseng Nini claimed three wickets while Refilwe Moncho took two. Sisanda Ngubane, Mona Lisa Legodi and Madison Landsman also registered crucial wickets to secure victory for SA.
The second match of the day saw an exciting encounter with a blended team inclusive of senior Gauteng players from Eastern Storm, Imperial Lions and Fidelity Titans Women.
The SA U19 have shown to be a formidable side as the road to the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup continues.
