Rassie van der Dussen starred with the bat scoring 56 to take the Proteas to 160 in the first T20I against the West Indies.
Now that the dust has settled on the Test series, it’s over to Grenada for the T20Is. The hosts’ XI had multiple bowling choices, and that proved to be quite strategic, as the Proteas were restricted to what appears to be a sub-par total on this surface.
Reeza Hendricks flickered briefly, until he played down the wrong line off left-arm spinner Fabian Allen. Allen maintained the tight lines and bowled a very economical 4 overs.
South Africa’s effort with the bat was characterized by increases in momentum cut short by untimely wickets. Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma both got off to encouraging starts, but both got out in the quest to force the pace.
Rassie van der Dussen starred with an unbeaten 56, as he ran out of able middle-order partners towards the back end of the innings. He managed to open up in the final two overs, driving the visitors to a reasonably competitive score.
Now the South Africans are playing all their best bowlers in this side, but the Windies have lots of batting firepower to potentially hunt this down. Tune in for the chase shortly.
