The Proteas Women have sealed their 4-match series against the West Indies Women with a six-wicket victory in the final ODI at the Wanderers.

It was a dominant performance from the home side with both bat and ball, starting with a clinical return from their senior bowlers. The Proteas managed to skittle West Indies for 174, thanks to 4-44 from Shabnim Ismail and 2-25 from Ayabonga Khaka.

Chloe Tryon was utilized effectively and took 2-12 in 6 overs that she bowled.

Young seamers Nadine de Klerk and Tumi Sekhukhune both took a wicket each, to clean up the visitors for what should have been a comfortable target to reach.

The West Indie bowlers never allowed the Proteas batters to settle.

They removed both openers in 12 overs after their contributions helped SA pass the 50-run mark. A crucial partnership of 88 runs between the skipper Sune Luus and Andries Steyn, put South Africa in the driving seat.

Just as the pair were starting to look settled, Anisa Mohammed struck in consecutive overs to first remove Luus after a 47 off 80 balls (1 six, 3 fours) and then Steyn after a 73-ball 52 (4 fours).

But with just 24 runs needed for victory, Chloe Tryon (20) and Mignon du Preez (6) completed the chase with 61 balls remaining.

The Proteas were impressive on the tour. After the first game was rained out, and the second saw the Windies clinch a victory after a dominant super over, the Proteas completed two dominant comeback victories to win the series 2-1.

This will give the ladies great confidence heading into the World Cup in New Zealand between 04 March – 03 April.
