The Proteas Women secured their five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe with two games to spare after completing three convincing victories at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

South Africa won the opening match by six wickets before recording victories by 64 and 80 runs to take an unassailable 3–0 lead in the series.

First T20I: Nini and Bosch inspire six-wicket victory

South Africa began the series with a commanding six-wicket win after dismissing Zimbabwe for 116 in 19.3 overs.

WT20I debutant Nthabiseng Nini made an immediate impact, taking 3/17 in 3.3 overs. She removed Nyasha Gwanzura, Kelis Ndhlovu and Loreen Tshuma as Zimbabwe slipped to 12/4.

Kayla Reyneke also collected three wickets, while Annerie Dercksen finished with 2/15. Modester Mupachikwa top-scored for Zimbabwe with 36 from 43 balls.

Anneke Bosch then took control of the chase with an explosive 83 from 43 deliveries, striking 11 fours and three sixes.

Her innings helped South Africa reach 117/4 in only 13.1 overs, completing the chase with 41 balls remaining. Nondumiso Shangase supported Bosch with 18 from 22 balls.

Second T20I: Bosch and Tunnicliffe power Proteas to 193

Bosch continued her impressive form in the second T20I as South Africa recorded a 64-run victory.

The all-rounder struck 65 from only 31 balls, including 12 fours, to provide the foundation for South Africa’s total of 193/3.

Faye Tunnicliffe took over during the latter stages of the innings, finishing unbeaten on 52 from 34 deliveries. She shared an unbroken 88-run partnership with Dercksen, who contributed 36 not out from 20 balls.

Zimbabwe reached 129/7 in response, with Christine Mutasa top-scoring with an unbeaten 30.

Seshnie Naidu led the South African bowling attack with 3/26, removing Kelis Ndhlovu, Beloved Biza and Loreen Tshuma.

Bosch completed an excellent all-round performance by taking 2/5 from her two overs, while Eliz-Mari Marx claimed 1/18.

Third T20I: Record-breaking Wolvaardt century seals the series

Laura Wolvaardt produced a record-breaking captain’s innings in the third T20I, scoring an unbeaten 126 from 62 balls to secure the series for South Africa.

It was Wolvaardt’s fourth T20I century and the highest individual score by a South African in women’s T20I cricket.

She struck 16 fours and four sixes, reaching her half-century from 32 balls before accelerating to complete her century from 54 deliveries.

Following the early dismissal of Miane Smit for eight, Wolvaardt shared an unbroken 173-run partnership with Karabo Meso. Meso finished unbeaten on 50 from 51 balls as South Africa posted 200/1.

Zimbabwe’s chase was then dismantled by Dercksen, who produced outstanding figures of 5/15 from four overs.

The hosts slipped to 35/6 before Michelle Mavunga’s 41 helped them reach 120. They were eventually bowled out in 19.3 overs as South Africa completed an 80-run victory.

Ayanda Hlubi, Marx, Naidu and debutant Luyanda Nzuza claimed one wicket each.

With the series secured, South Africa will have an opportunity to test more combinations and provide further exposure to their younger players in the final two T20Is.
