Zubayr Hamza notched up 150 against a very strong Northern Cape side on day 1 in the 3-day fixture in Kimberley, a perfect nudge ahead of the England Test series.
It’s unfortunate that a young talent like Hamza is not in the Mzansi Super League showcasing his capabilities.
But despite this, the young Cobras and Proteas batsman still found a way to make the headlines, although the Cape Town Blitz were battling against the Durban Heat at Newlands.
He scored 183 from 233 balls that included 26 fours. This formed part of a 237-run stand for the second wicket with his Cobras teammate Peter Malan who scored 124 from 219 balls with 18 fours
Hamza’s contribution put Western Province in a strong position at 340/4 when he lost his wicket.
With the start of the Test series against England less than a month away, does his performance warrant him a place at the No 3 position in the Test side?
