Paarl Rocks’ Henry Davids scored a gutsy 46 to guide his side to 163/8 before the Rocks’ bowlers sealed a two-run win to complete the double over their local rivals the Cape Town Blitz.
Davids’ 46 came off 33 balls and included five fours and a six, and he kept his nerve despite losing partners around him.
This set the tone for the Rocks as they continued to fight off the Cape Town Blitz’s lethal bowling attack to squeeze out a decent total.
The home side’s top order struggled to fire, as the Paarl Rocks bowlers held their nerve. Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz scored an impressive 41, while Vernon Philander also strung together an effective 22-ball 33 before losing his wicket.
The damage was already done, and although the game went till the last over, the Blitz could not steal a win.
They ended the match nine-wickets down and posted 161.
The Rocks moved to second on the log four points behind the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants.
