David Miller’s unbeaten 50 off 39 balls with three fours and two sixes got Durban Heat over the line to keep them alive in the tournament.

The Heat got off to an explosive start chasing 174 but then lost their set batters at crucial times.

David Miller played a brilliant anchor role upfront supported well by Dane Vilas before Ravi Bopara helped him finish the job to guide their side to a 6-wicket victory over the tournament favourites NMB Giants to go fourth on the log.

The platform was set by Wihan Lubbe who scored a blitz 31 off 11 balls with 28 of those runs coming off one Junior Dala over. Alex Hales continued thereafter but was dismissed after a 38-ball 41.

Miller came in early when Durban Heat were 60-2 in the 6th over. He had plenty of time to get himself in and then capitalize. He did just that, once again proving what he can do when given more time at the crease.

Millers running between the wickets with Vilas and Bopara was excellent once again despite it seemed like he struggled with a bit of a groin niggle. That certainly didn’t stop him from forcing the singles into two’s.

With the T20 World Cup in Australia looming and spots up for grabs, players could use this as an opportunity to put their hands up.

Also, the spinners have taken all the shine at this year’s edition of the Mzansi Super League and Saturday at Kingsmead was no different.

This time, Keshav Maharaj proved his worth with 3/15 tightening things up for his side after the Giants looked set for a massive total.
