AB de Villiers, Pite von Biljon, Chris Gayle and Temba Bavuma all impressed for their sides, as Tshwane Spartans handed the Jozi Stars their sixth defeat.
There were too many special moments in this game so we’ll go through them all.
AB de Villiers has been notably quiet during last year’s Mzansi Super League campaign and this year so far.
But on Sunday he scored a magnificent 53 off 33 that included four 4’s and two 6’s. With the help from Pite van Biljon’s 45 off 29 balls with four 4’s and two 6’s, Tshwane Spartans posted a below-par 155-6.
Chris Gayle bid farewell to South Africa in Gayle fashion, scoring an impressive 53 off 27 with six 4’s and four 6’s.
Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen went along decently to put Jozi Stars in a great position at 112/3. Then the Spartans bowlers ran riot. Literally.
Tom Curran and Roelof van der Merwe, in particular, were bowling well and managed to pull off, what looked like, an impossible win.
The Tshwane Spartans go to third on the log. Meanwhile, the defending champions have lost all six of their games.
