Pieter Malan scores the highest score as a Cobras player, 264 off 507 balls, to surpass legends such as JP Duminy, Graeme Smith and Andrew Puttick.

In the last ever Cobras game, Pieter Malan’s historic 264 in the match against the Knights became the highest ever score for the Cobras. 

The 31-year-old batted since Tuesday afternoon, facing 507 balls, hitting 26 4s and 4 6s as he posted not only his highest ever first-class score but the highest score for the Cape Town franchise.

He showed patience, grit, determination and unbelievable stamina, playing his part in two key partnerships – 219 with Zubayr Hamza (86) and 217 with Kyle Verreynne (109).

He helped the Cobras past 500 when he lost his wicket, putting the Cobras in a commanding position against the Knights.

This was Malan’s 34th century in first-class cricket and his 10th for the Cobras.
