The Proteas suffered yet another batting collapse. They were 81-4 after 24 overs.

Markram worked hard for his 60-ball 32, but played an unnecessary whip shot off the back foot to midwicket.

Quinton de Kock came to the middle, and he played the aggressive game we have become accustomed to. He used a couple of reverse sweeps to get his innings rolling, as he cruised to 24 off 11 balls (5 fours).

He will need to play a special innings with the help of Temba Bavuma to take the Proteas to a decent first innings score.

South Africa finished the day on 106-4 trailing by 166 runs.
