Pakistan ended Day 1 of the second Test on 259-5 against South Africa at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first.
Similarly to the first Test, they got off to a solid start despite losing one of their openers early on. Simon Harmer bowled Imam ul-Haq for 17.
Pakistan posted 95-1 in 30 overs when Lunch was called.
They continued to pile on runs after the break, Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood stringing together 111 runs.
Harmer put a stop to that, when he strangled Shafique down the leg side after 57. Pakistan losing their second with 146 on the board.
Keshav Maharaj got into the action, dismissing Babar Azam who popped the ball up to short leg. PAK were now 167-3.
The hosts went into Tea on 177-3.
After the break Pakistan went past 200, but South Africa were fighting back. Maharaj dismissed Masood for 87, with his sweep shot finding square leg.
Pakistan were now 212-4.
Rabada trapped Mohammad Rizwan lbw before the end of the day’s play. Pakistan finished on 259/5.
