We wrap up the second weekend of Mzansi Super League fixtures.
Durban Heat vs Paarl Rocks
Kicking off the weekend was the highly anticipated match between the Rocks and the Heat. But as expected the match was abandoned due to rain, an outcome that has been a regular occurrence at Kingsmead.
Jozi Stars vs Nelson Mandela Bay Giants
This was a match dominated by the Giants clinical bowling lineup. Three wickets from both Junior Dala (3/19), Imran Tahir (3/23) and two important scalps for Nandre Burger (2/28) saw the Stars skittled for 108. The Nelson Mandela Bay Giants chased this down with nine wickets remaining. Ben Dunk was the hero with a 30-ball 50.
Durban Heat vs Cape Town Blitz
An intense battle commenced in what was the first complete match in Durban. The Cape Town Blitz posted 174/6 with Asif Ali and Marques Ackerman both scoring 43. The Heat’s chase was feisty and dominated by an impressive 83 off 42 balls from Wihan Lubbe. But the Blitz’s incredible bowling lineup showed their experience to restrict Durban Heat to 164/7.

Paarl Rocks vs Tshwane Spartans
This was a straightforward win for the Spartans who have not played much cricket thus far in the tournament due to uncontrollable circumstances. James Vince came into the Rocks starting lineup and performed instantly with an innings-saving 86 off 53 balls to take the Rocks to 185/6. But Dean Elgar did one better for the Spartans to take his side over the line with a career-best 88, aided by 42 from Theunis de Bruyn. The Spartans won by eight wickets.
