CATCH UP: SA SCORE 247-6 | 2ND TEST DAY 1 | INDIA vs SOUTH AFRICA:
The Proteas started Day 2 looking to build on their 247-6.
The morning session belonged to Senuran Muthusamy and Kyle Verreynne, who batted with patience, balancing between rotating strike regularly, defending with confidence, and putting away any loose deliveries.
The pair took South Africa past 300.
Muthusamy brought up his third career half-century in a 70-run partnership with Verreynne.
They went into Tea on 316-6.
After the break, India got their first breakthrough of the day. Verryenne came charging down the track, and Ravindra Jadeja pre-empted this, drifted the ball wider, and Pant stumped him. He was out for 45, and the 88-run partnership was broken. SA were 334-7.
Marco Jansen came to the wicket with a positive approach. He intended to attack. He hit a no-look six over long on on his 10th delivery faced.
Muthusamy caught the bug; he brought up SA’s 350 with a slog sweep straight down the ground for six.
They raced to a 50-run partnership in 50 balls.
To give some context, Jansen came to the crease in the 121st over. By 132 overs, SA had brought up 400.

They went into lunch on 428-7.
Straight after lunch, Muthusamy (109 off 206 balls) picked out fine-leg with a pull shot, Mohammed Siraj getting the wicket. SA were 431-7. This brought a partnership of 97 runs to an end.
Jansen continued where he left off. He hit two sixes off Jadeja’s first over after lunch.
He scored 93 off 91 balls (6 fours, 7 sixes). Kuldeep bowled him; he was the last wicket to fall.
Jansen led a 31-run partnership with Simon Harmer (5) and 27 with Keshav Maharaj (12).
