Wiaan Mulder’s maiden century helped South Africa post 575-6 declared on Day 2 of the 2nd Test against Bangladesh.

The Proteas started Day 2 of the 2nd Test on 307-2. 

The aim was to bat as long as possible, scoring as many runs as possible. 

Tony de Zorzi continued where he left off and was supported brilliantly by David Bedingham. 

De Zorzi brought up his 150 and helped SA past the 350 mark. 

Bedingham brought up his 50 in 70 balls, taking SA to 366-2 after 96 overs at drinks. 

He only managed 59 off 78 balls (2 fours, 4 sixes) when he was bowled by Taijul. SA were reduced to 386-3 in 98.2 overs, and the 116-run partnership came to an end. 

De Zorzi reached 177 off 269 balls (12 fours, 4 sixes) and took SA to 391 before he was dismissed lbw by Taijul for his 4th. 

Taijul then brought up his five-for by dismissing Kyle Verreynne for a duck. SA were now reduced to 391-5. 

SA lost 3 wickets for 5 runs in 26 deliveries during this period of the match. 

Ryan Rickelton and Wiaan Mulder survived until Lunch, taking SA to 413-5. 

After te break, Ryan Rickelton only managed 12 before losing his wicket. SA were reduced to 423-6. 

Mulder and Senuran Muthusamy took SA past 450, building an important partnership. 

The pair strung together 100 runs that took SA past 500, with Mulder bringing up his second career half-century and second in the series. 

At Tea, South Africa had 527-6 on the board, with Mulder on 78* and Muthusamy on 47*. 

After Tea, Muthusamy brought up his maiden half-century with a cut shot for four, validating his selection in this Test match. 

The Proteas waited for Mulder to reach his maiden century before they declared. He brought it up with a maximum, scoring 105 off 150 balls (8 fours and 4 sixes). 

Muthusamy finished on 70 off 75 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes). 

South Africa declared on 575-6 after a partnership of 154*. 

Bangladesh started their innings on 5 due to penalty runs, after Muthusamy was penalized for running on the pitch.

 Kagiso Rabada got the perfect start for SA, nicking off Shadman Islam for a duck.

Rabada struck again in the 5th over, finding another nick, this time off the bat of Zakir. Bangladesh were reduced to 21-2.

Dane Paterson made it 29-3 with the wicket of Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who edged a delivery to the slips.

Keshav Maharaj then bowled the night watchman Hasan Mahmud for a duck.

Bad light brought a close to the day’s play, with Bangladesh on 38-4 and trailing by 537 runs.
