Jon-Jon Smuts’ 73 and a late charge from Marco Marais clinched a 5-wicket win for the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants against the Cape Town Blitz.

The one thing that you can always commend the St George’s Park faithful for is the incredible vibe they bring whilst supporting their side.

As the St George’s Brass Band bellowed through the ground, the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants put on an impressive performance.

They restricted the Cape Town Blitz batsmen from posting any standout totals, but the team from the Cape still managed to post 186/9, with Quinton de Kock’s quickfire 18-ball 39 up top and Liam Livingstone’s middle-order 39 off 25 balls the highest scores out of the bunch.

Giants skipper Smuts smashed eight fours and two sixes for his 51-ball 73 to keep his side in the game, but Wahab Riaz dismissed him in 17th over. This was the knock that swung the momentum in the home side’s favour.

Marco Marais showed his unbelievable finishing ability and smashed a 20-ball 40 that included four 4s and two 6s.
