Mark Boucher addressed the media on Thursday and spoke about a variety of topics including the Proteas’ team culture, style of play, the team’s stance on Black Lives Matter and his stance on AB de Villiers.
The Proteas head coach was open and honest in his press conference when asked some difficult questions.
He started off addressing the Covid-19 issue, what it has been like to deal with the pandemic personally when he contracted the virus, and how it has affected the team’s preparation.
He went on to explain the Proteas’ stance on the Black Lives Matter movement, stating that the team environment promotes “Respect, Empathy and Belonging” as their new value system.
Boucher also made it clear that the Proteas intend on playing an “aggressive” but “smart” brand of cricket.
As expected, he was asked about AB de Villiers and answered openly and honestly saying that he is prepared to talk to AB closer to the World Cup.
