Proteas Men’s all-rounder Marco Jansen has undergone surgery after injuring his left thumb during the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia at Lord’s last month.
The 25-year-old will be assessed in six weeks by the medical team to determine his return-to-play timeline.
The Proteas take on Zimbabwe and New Zealand in a tri-series starting on Monday.
