In the series-decider of the ODI series between South Africa and Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat.
A game dominated by spin, South Africa’s battery of spinners were instrumental in restricting Sri Lanka to 203/9.
Kagiso Rabada, who was battling an ankle sprain, struggled to find his rhythm on this pitch. Stand-in captain, Keshav Maharaj, quickly identified this and brought himself into the attack straightaway.
Maharaj was the standout bowler, picking three wickets and conceding 38 runs in his quota of 10 overs.
George Linde, making his ODI debut today, was equally effective, picking two wickets and giving away 32 runs in his 10 overs.
Similarly, Tabraiz Shamsi also took two wickets and conceded 31 runs in his 10 overs.
Aiden Markram, now being employed regularly for his part-time spin, bowled his full quota of ten overs and took one wicket and gave away 41 runs.
