Eastern Province’s star batsman, Luke Beaufort, continues to live up to expectations and regarded his Khaya Majola Player of the Tournament award as a “privilege”, writes Ongama Gcwabe.
THE BIG WINNERS AT THE 2020 CSA AMATEUR AWARDS
Beaufort accumulated over 300 runs in the week, the most by any player in last year’s edition. He finished top run-scorer in a week that was star-studded with names like Jonathan Bird and Bryce Parsons to name a few.
The 19-year-old was rewarded with the Khaya Majola Week Player of the Tournament in the Cricket South Africa Amateur Awards.
“Winning this prestigious award is the biggest honour and privilege. It was so overwhelming to see that if you put your mind to something you can achieve it,” Beaufort told Cricket Fanatics Magazine in an exclusive interview.

For Beaufort, the moment that he treasured most in that week was the friendship they built as a team and the team camaraderie.
“The highlight of the tournament for me was after the final game against WP when all my friends and coaches gathered together and thanked each other for the amazing week we had just experienced.
“From handing out gifts to taking photos with each other to making life long friendships, my highlight of the week was simply the bond that our team had and the way we went about things throughout the week, it meant a lot to me!”
To any young cricketer out there who looks up to Beaufort and wants to achieve what he has achieved, he left a message of advice for you.
“My advice to anyone looking to achieve this award is to HAVE FUN!! Play the game because you love it and let the results follow,” he said.
“Make sure that you are working hard and controlling the controllables like for example your fitness.
“Keep asking questions and trying to grow. And lastly believe that what you want to achieve is achievable and you are already halfway there.”
