This round of the 4-Day Series saw the Dolphins draw with Titans, North West draw with the Lions and Western Province draw against the Warriors.

Dolphins vs Titans

This was the first fixture of the round. The teams clashed from 12-15 November.

In Durban, the Dolphins bowled first and struggled to contain the Titans from the start. The visitors put 97 on the board before the first wicket fell. This sparked a flurry of wickets, with the Dolphins reducing the Titans to 139-4.

Dewald Brevis and Rivaldo Moonsamy had other plans. They strung together a 134-run partnership before the latter lost his wicket 4 runs shy of a half-century.

Phehlukwayo joined Brevis, and the pair strung together 117, including Brevis’s crucial century. The partnership ended with Phelukwayo on 63 and the team on 390-6.

Brevis was the last wicket to fall after 159 off 172 balls (10 fours and 7 sixes). Titans declared on 418-7.

The Dolphins only managed to post 365. The stand-out batters were Sarel Erwee (58) and Jason Smith (87). Tsepo Ndwandwa was solid with the ball taking 5-124.

There were only three days of play after no play on day 1. The match ended in a draw.

North West vs the Lions

In Potchefstroom, North West elected to bat first and were brilliant with the bat. They posted 425-6 declared. Janneman Malan (63), Whian Lubbe (85) and Tahir Isaacs (58) all contributed with half-centuries. The stand-out performer, however, was Raynard van Tonder with 120 off 221 deliveries (12 fours, 2 sixes).

The Lions’ response was similar. Josua Richards (75), Wiaan Mulder (56), and Connor Esterhuizen (83) contributed with half-centuries. The stand-out batter, however, was the captain Bjorn Fortuin. He scored 120 off 140 balls (12 fours, 2 sixes).

Lions declared on Day 4 with 399-9 on the board.

Ruan De Swardt took 5-67 for NW.

Janneman Malan (55*) and Matthew Kleinveldt (76*) took North West to 136-0, and a draw was called.

Western Province vs Warriors

At Newlands, the Proteas players’ return had no effect where batting was concerned. Two centuries saved the innings for Western Province. Edward Moore scored 127 off 221 balls (12 fours, 2 sixes) and George Linde scored 152 off 245 balls (14 fours). Kyle Simmods scored the other milestone, 68 off 71 balls (8 fours, 1 six).

WP posted 464. The Warriors were bowled out for 266, with Simmonds taking 4-66.

The hosts went out to bat again, scored 162-8 and declared. Linde was the star once again, scoring 57 off 86 balls (8 fours).

The Warriors saw out the day. They finished on 231-8. Jordan Hermann scored 98 and Matthew Breetzke scored 53. Qeshile blocked out for a draw. He faced 172 balls for his 34*.
