Laura Wolvaardt starred with a magnificent maiden century to help set up a dominant 79-run victory for the Proteas Women against Sri Lanka.
The Proteas captain scored 102 off 63 balls (12 fours and 3 sixes). She was helped by a Marizanne Kapp’s 40-ball 60 (4 hours, 3 sixes) in a 116-run partnership.
The pair’s effort ended in the 16th over, when Kapp lost her wicket to reduce SA to 141-3.
Wolvaardt continued her dominance until the second last ball of the innings, to take the Proteas Women to 197.
They finished their innings with a total of 198-5.
Sri Lanka’s reply was timid. They lost two wickets for 48 runs in 7 overs before rain stopped play.
When the game restarted te Proteas ran through Sri Lanka. They were skittled for 119.
