Heinrich Klaasen was the stand-out South African in round one of IPL 2024, with a 29-ball 63.

The one player who did impress was Heinrich Klaasen, who continued his incredible form in the white ball arena.
In a high-scoring game between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Kolkata Knight Riders, Klaasen had the opportunity to be the hero for his side in a chase.
KKR posted 208/7. Klaasen came to the crease with his side three down with 107 on the board after 11.4 overs. He struck 63 off 29 balls including 8 sixes at a strike rate of 217.24. He took his side within touching distance of victory but lost his wicket on the second last ball of the game. KKR won by 4 runs.
Other notable mentions in the round were Dewald Brevis’ 46 off 38 balls and Gerald Coetzee’s 2-27 for Mumbai Indians in a losing cause against GT.
