CSA have released five players from the Test squad to play for their respective franchise, while Keegan Petersen will remain as 12th man and work with Jacques Kallis.

The 26-year-old from Paarl has 88 First Class matches under the belt with 5 490 runs, a high score of 225 not out and an average of 40.66.

He had a fantastic 4-Day competition last season, scoring 923 runs in 9 games at an average of 61.53 which included three centuries and four half-centuries.

The members of the Proteas not playing in the second Test match against England at Newlands have been released to play for their respective franchise teams in the next round of the Cricket South Africa domestic franchise four-day series which starts up again on Monday, 06 January 2020. 

Those players are: Temba Bavuma (Imperial Lions) , Andile Phehlukwayo (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), Dane Paterson (World Sports Betting Cape Cobras), Beuran Hendricks (Imperial Lions) and Rudi Second (Warriors).
