Cricket is back! Jacques Snyman blitzed his way to the fastest 4-Day Series hundred in history as we wrap up Day 1 of the first round of the competition.
Snyman scored a domineering 78-ball 109 on Day 1 of the 4-Day Series game against the Warriors. His century came in 71 balls, setting the record for the fastest century in 4-Day Series history. The previous fastest was in 73 balls that was held by teammate Shaun von Berg.
He picked up from where he left off last season in the Momentum One-Day Cup with his devastating form at the top of the order. It’s been more than four decades since a player scored a century in the very first session of the match, and Snyman made history today.
Raynard van Tonder, the promising 22-year-old, scored a commendable 85 at first drop. It’s a crucial season for the youngster, and he’s already established a favourable reputation as a reliable performer for the Knights in this format.
Skipper Pite van Biljon impressed with a quickfire 53, and veteran Farhaan Behardien is unbeaten on 67. Marco Jansen is the pick of the bowlers for the Warriors in what was quite a batting-favoured day at Bloemfontein.

Lions vs Dolphins
Over to Kingsmead, it was a shortened day, and the Dolphins were able to get through just above half of the allotted overs. With several Proteas back in the mix across both teams, this should be an exciting contest.
Reeza Hendricks’ free-wheeling 76 set the tone early on, but the wickets of Dominic Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen kept the Dolphins well and truly in the thick of things.
Ottniel Baartman, Kerwin Mungroo, and Andile Phehlukwayo each took a wicket. Captain Temba Bavuma is currently unbeaten at 30 and will look to capitalize.
Lions 153/3 in 55 overs (R Hendricks 76 – Baartman 1/18) v Dolphins
It’s been a great return to Newlands for Lizaad Williams in his new team against his former side. Alongside Okuhle Cele in the Titans setup, the bowlers successfully kept the young Cobras side under 300 – Pieter Malan was the pick of the batsmen, and he was the only one to cross 50 with steady contributions from George Linde and Kyle Verreynne.
Tabraiz Shamsi, the limited-overs spinner, chipped in with a useful tally of 3 wickets. While it was a tough day for the Cobras batsmen.
They closed out the day on a high note when George Linde took the wicket of the Proteas opener Aiden Markram, leaving the Titans at 4 for 1 at the close of play.
A riveting game awaits us as it’s been quite the eventful beginning so far.
Cape Cobras 264/9d in 91 overs (P Malan 51, Linde 43 – L Williams 4/51)
