Khalid Mohidin picks the brain of WP Women Team Manager Gabi-Lee van der Westhuizen. She gave us some insight into her newly capped Western Province U19 team and the recent transformation in Women’s Cricket.

I attended the Western Province capping ceremony which saw the U13, U15, U17 and U19 (Girls and Boys) sides picked ahead of the national weeks.

I had the amazing privilege to have a chat with the Western Province Women and Western Province U19 team manager Gabi. Always friendly and lovely, she gave me some amazing insight into the women’s game and her current team.

I learnt so much from my conversation with her, especially about how the Women’s game is evolving rapidly, but also about the struggles that come with dreaming of being a professional Women’s cricketer.
