Beuran Hendricks has grown into a deadly weapon, especially in white-ball cricket, writes Khalid Mohidin.
“I’m a liqourice all-sorts” said Beuran Hendricks when I asked him what sort of hobbies and activities he is into off the field.
Kind of ironic, because if you had to describe his style of bowling, that would be a pretty decent analogy.
He has worked hard to get the recognition he has received, and in recent years especially in the T20 format he has shown his skill, variation and versatility. Add the natural uniqueness of him being a left-arm seamer and Hendricks has become quite a deadly weapon for the Proteas as well as in domestic cricket.
He proved this in the third T20I against India. The 29-year-old gave the Proteas that little edge against the hosts that was crucial to helping them secure a mammoth 9-wicket win and leveling the three-match series.
I caught up with him on his return to South Africa, and we had an insightful conversation about some aspects of his life, career and of course his time in India.
