Jordan Hermann recorded a scintillating unbeaten century on Wednesday as an SA Invitational XI dominated the second day of their four-day match against the England Lions at the Western Province Cricket Club in Cape Town.

The Dafabet Warriors batter, who fell for a golden duck in the first innings on day one, blasted four sixes and 12 fours in his 112-ball 115* to see his side to the close on 193 for four – a lead of 330.

Earlier the bowlers ruled over the visiting side by dismissing them for just 152 thanks to three wickets apiece from Codi Yusuf and Corbin Bosch.

The former bagged three for 59 and the latter three for 20, whilst there was good support from Ruan de Swardt (2/15). That performance led the English to be blown away in 33.1 overs.

The day had begun with the home side batting on 285 for eight in their first innings, but they managed to add just four more to that tally as Thomas Lawes (4/42) wrapped up the innings.

It was then over to the bowlers, who dominated their visitors throughout.

The South Africans stuck almost at will and had England down to 72 for seven at one stage, before Lawes (48) and Zaman Akhter (30) put on 76 together for the eighth wicket to lift their side to a total of respectability.

However, the margin between the two sides at the changeover was still 137.

And that only expanded more and more the longer Hermann batted.

He put on 53 inside nine overs with Lesego Senokwane (13) and then added 106 in little time batting beside Jean du Plessis (36). By the end of that partnership, the South Africans were in an excellent position as Hermann went to stumps unbeaten and his side in the pound seat.
