Heinrich Klaasen scored his second half-century of the tournament to help the Sunrisers Hyderabad post the highest total in IPL history – 277-3.
When the batter came to the crease SRH was 161-3 after 11 overs, a brilliant platform set by Travis Head (62 off 24 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23 balls). A total of 10 sixes and 12 fours were shared between the pair, the latter scoring seven maximums and three fours.
But the record-setting partnership was between Aiden Markram and Klaasen.
The pair scored 166 off 55 balls in an exquisite display of attacking batting.
Markram finished unbeaten on a 28-ball 42, but it was Klaasen who stole the show with 80 off 34 balls (7 sixes, 4 fours).
Their total of 277-3 is now the highest in IPL history, eclipsing the 263-5 set by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors (23 April 2013).
MI managed to score 246-5, losing the match by 31 runs.
Tilak Varma top scored with a 34-ball 63 and Tim David was destructive with his 22-ball 42, but they unfortunately fell short of their target.
