Momentum Multiply Titans duo Ayabulela Gqamane and Simon Harmer took three wickets apiece to help bowl out the GbetsRocks and take a first-innings lead on day three of their Cricket South Africa (CSA) 4-Day Domestic Series encounter on Saturday.

Gqamane (3 – 41) and Harmer (3-52) led the charge for the visiting side as they restricted the Rocks to 234 all out to maintain a lead of 74 runs heading into their second innings with the bat before reaching stumps on 96 / 3 and now 170 runs ahead.

The clash at Eurolux Boland Park in Paarl was the only game that saw a full day’s play, while rain disrupted proceedings in Johannesburg and Potchefstroom.

The Rocks resumed day three on a solid 142/4 having dismissed their opponents for 308, with Isma-eel Gafieldien in fine nick at the crease having brought up his half-century alongside Ferisco Adams (44).

Both batters contributed to the overnight score before Adams was the first wicket to fall, leaving Gafieldien to carry the torch, a challenge he accepted as he closed in on a hard-fought century despite losing partners around him.

Gafieldien was eventually dismissed, falling agonisingly close to the milestone on 97 off 305 balls (11 fours) as the Rocks ended on 234 all out.

Harmer and Gqamane, well-supported by Corbin Bosch (2-45) and Dayyaan Galiem (2-39), were the stand out performers in an impressive Titans bowling performance.

With the bat and with a decent lead in hand, the Titans made a measured start out in the middle before losing two quick wickets to go 23/2 which brought Neil Brand (32*) in to help guide the visitors to 93/3 with one day’s play to go.

At the Imperial Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, opener Joshua Richards (100 off 208 balls; 11 fours) made the most of his time at the crease before the rain came down on day three to record a well-deserved hundred to help the Imperial Lions extend their lead to 96 runs over the ITEC Knights in their top-of-the-table clash.

Meanwhile, there was no play possible at the JB Marks Oval Stadium in the game between the North West Dragons and the Hollywoodbets Dolphins due to persistent rainfall.

The fourth and final day of the fourth round of the CSA 4-Day Domestic Series take place on Sunday, 28 November with the action streamed live via SuperSport’s YouTube channel.
