South Africa took two wickets during the 1st session on Day 1 of the 3rd Test against India as the visitors posted 75/2 by lunch.

Newlands was greeted by grey clouds hugging the picturesque Table Mountain. A slight concern for some when a slight dribble kissed the surface, but play started with no time lost which was a relief for all sitting in the glass box behind the Kelvin Grove end.

It was hard work again for the fast bowlers who searched for a line and length that would trouble the India batters.

There were 31 runs scored before the breakthrough. Duanne Olivier found the line that the Proteas bowlers were searching for, he forced KL Rahul into a nick to the keeper for the opening wicket.

Kagiso Rabada followed this up with a perfect length, Mayank Agarwal finding an edge to second slip.

India were 33/2 after 12.2 overs, a good start for the seamers.

India found to keep the runs ticking over.

Consistency, accuracy and patience have remained key to being successful as a bowler during this series and it remains to be the key factor in this decider.

Virat Kohli and Pujara batted well – they left well, played the stray deliveries and kept themselves in the game.

The contest seemed even heading into lunch as India posted 75/2.
