South African youngster, Dewald Brevis, lit up the contest between the Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings with the kind of audacious strokeplay that was typically associated with his hero, AB de Villiers.
In the IPL fixture between the Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, the Punjab Kings posted a formidable 198/5 in 20 overs.
Chasing 199, the Mumbai Indians lost their openers, Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan, fairly early. At 32/2, they were in a precarious position, when young South African batsman, Dewald Brevis, came to the wicket.
Brevis, known for his attacking instinct, showcased a wide array of shots in partnership with uncapped Indian batsman, Tilak Varma.
In an innings of 49 off 25 balls, Brevis hit four boundaries and five sixes. In particular, he took apart Punjab Kings spinner, Rahul Chahar, hitting him for a boundary and four consecutive sixes.
Two of those four sixes were over 100m, with the fourth six clocking 112m. Brevis’ innings shifted the momentum in favour of the Mumbai Indians.
