The latest round of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) 4-Day Domestic Series commenced in both divisions across the country on Thursday.
In Division One, DP World Lions and Hollywoodbets Dolphins are playing their opening games of the series.
Lions travelled to Potchefstroom as they face the North West Dragons whilst Dolphins take on Dafabet Warriors in Gqeberha.
Skipper, Dominic Hendricks, won the toss and opted to bat first in a steady day at the JB Marks Oval. His half-century (89), was supported by Rassie van der Dussen (45) and Wihan Mulder (30*) as Lions ended the day on 224/5.
After losing the toss and bowling first, Dolphins restricted the Warriors to 166 all out in less than 50 overs. Notable contributions for the Warriors were Jordan Hermann’s half-century (51 off 83), and Glenton Stuurman (37 off 42).
Ottniel Baartman and Eathan Bosch were the chief destroyers, claiming three wickets each.
The Durban-based side is currently on 151/5. Skipper, Marques Ackerman top scored with 48 runs and Jason Smith will continue on 44*runs when play resumes tomorrow.
In the Western Cape derby at Newlands, the Six Gun Grill Western Province are hosting neighbours, Gbets Rocks.
Tony de Zorzi and Kyle Verreynne centuries saw Western Province end the day’s play on 430/5.

In another high-scoring encounter, Momentum Multiply Titans are hosting the ITEC Knights at SuperSport Park. The two sides know how to maximise numbers on the board as their CSA T20 Challenge encounter broke the world record.
Dean Elgar’s century (137 off 191) powered the Titans to a great start as the home side was 328/7 at the end of Day One. Elgar’s boundary-filled knock included 24 fours, and with the support of Heinrich Klassen, who is unbeaten with 87* runs in 95 deliveries, the Titans have set up a solid first innings.
Nealan van Heerden (4/57 in 17 Overs) and Migael Pretorius (3/65 in 14 Overs) were responsible for the day’s fall of wickets.
Division Two sees Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers take on the Limpopo Impalas in Oudtshoorn. Eastern Cape Iinyathi hosts Eastern Storm in East London and Northern Cape Heat are in Pietermaritzburg against AET Tuskers.
