The Sunrisers Eastern Cape are through to the final for the third game after successfully chasing down 176 against the Paarl Royals today.

It was a momentous occasion for the Hermann family, as Rubin and Jordan both put forth game-changing contributions.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius continued his imperious form with a relatively subdued 59 from 41. He has notched up nearly 400 runs in this tournament at a fantastic strike rate just below 170.

However, it was Rubin Hermann’s unbeaten 53-ball 81 that drove the Paarl Royals to a competitive score at SuperSport Park. Initially, he was playing second fiddle to Pretorius, but opened up closer to the back end of the innings. It’s been a brilliant tournament for the hard-hitting left-hander, who has made 333 runs, averaging just under 42.

Among the Proteas bowlers, it was Aiden Markram’s part time offspin that ended up on top. He took the key wicket of Royals skipper David Miller and his 4 overs went for a run a ball.

The chase was off to a flying start after David Bedingham’s wicket. Tony de Zorzi, the Test and ODI opener for SA, timed the ball sweetly and collected boundaries all around the ground. It was a largely modest showing in the SA20 for him up until this point, and he delivered when it mattered most. A marvelous 49-ball 78 took away much of the run-rate pressure, and Jordan Hermann would successfully bat through the remainder of the innings. His unbeaten 69 from 48 was a relatively sedate knock, but more importantly, a very well-paced contribution to take his team over the line.

The Sunrisers will meet MI Cape Town in for all the marbles at the Wanderers.
