Quinton de Kock’s century was essential to South Africa posting a competitive 287 in the 3rd ODI at Newlands.
Having already won the series with two victories in Paarl, the Proteas traveled to Newlands for the final match of the the India tour.
The batters were not as impressive as they were through out the series, but it took one player to rock up and give the Proteas the stability they needed.
Quinton de Kock, who recently retired from Test cricket, put on a magnificent batting display to take SA to a above par total. Day-night games are usually played at Newlands, so the sample size for the par score is small, which explains the low par total.
The par score in day games is 196 in 1st innings at the ground and De Kock’s 124 off 130 balls, took SA to 214-4 before he was dismissed. He scored 12 fours and 2 sixes during his innings.
It was Rassie van der Dussen who stuck around with him at the crease putting on a partnership of 144 runs in 143 balls, Rassie contributing 50 to the total and De Kock 82.
After both batters were back in the pavilion, the score was at 218-5. Van der Dussen scoring 52 off 59 balls.
David Miller was searching for a partner to help him take the total as close to the 300-run mark as possible.
Pretorius scored a cameo 20, as wickets continued to fall.
David Miller scored 39 off 38 balls as SA posted 287 in their innings.
