David Miller scored an unbeaten 68 off 38 balls to ensure that the Gujarat Titans qualify for the final of Tata IPL 2022.
Playoff 1, played at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, witnessed an encounter between two of the IPL’s strongest teams this year – the Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals.
The Rajasthan Royals set the Titans 189 runs, thanks to a dominant 89 off 56 balls off the bat of Jos Buttler.
The Titans lost their in-form opener, Wriddhiman Saha, in the first over, but rebuilt strongly with a 70-run partnership between Shubman Gill (35 off 21) and Matthew Wade (35 off 30). After Gill and Wade were dismissed, Hardik Pandya and David Miller sealed the chase comfortably with a 106-run partnership.
Initially, Pandya was the aggressor, scoring 40 off 27 balls, including five boundaries. At the other end, Miller took his time to get set, but once he found his rhythm, particularly against Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Obed McCoy, he was unstoppable.
The Titans needed 16 runs to win off the final over, which was bowled by Prasidh Krishna. Miller hit three consecutive sixes to deliver a memorable win to take the Titans to the final of this edition of the IPL.
Miller finished with 68 off 38 balls, including three boundaries and five sixes.
