Proteas batter David Miller entertained the small St George’s crowd with an entertaining 58 from 26 balls to help the Dolphins to the first 200-run total of the CSA T20 Challenge campaign.
The performance came after news broke that Miller went unsold in the IPL auction for his base price of 1.00 CR (Approx R2 million).
Miller hit 2 fours 6 sixes with the pick of the shots coming in the final over after changing his broke bat – an 80m six over extra cover.
He also showed some excellent running between the wickets with Andile Phehlukwayo, who also played a massive role in the Dolphins setting a record highest score at the ground.
Phehlukwayo hit 1 four and 2 sixes for his 16-ball 28 and was key to the destructive partnership of 86 runs.
Grant Roelofsen’s 30-ball 50 (7 fours and 2 sixes) was vital to the foundation set, as well as Bryce Parsons who hit 39 off 31 balls (3 fours and a six).
Miller however stole the show reaching his half-century in 23 balls before ending on 58 off 26 balls. He showed excellent power-hitting in the V.
The 211/5 by the Dolphins is the first 200-plus score of the tournament.
