We summarize Day 1 and 2 round 6 of the CSA 4-Day Series.
DAY 1:
Western Province vs Boland
Western Province was dominant with the bat on Day 1 with 4 batsmen scoring 50+. Tony de Zorzi was the main man for the boys in blue scoring 141 (204). The other 3 were Edward Moore 75 (112), David Bedingham 64*(104) and Kyle Verreynne 61*(93).
Boland only managed to take 3 wickets for the day with Shaun von Berg 2-58 and Glenton Stuurman 1-83.
Titans vs NW Dragons
On Day 1 at Supersport Park, the visitors had a successful day with the bat. However, the game was cut short due to bad light. Matthew Kleinveldt 97 (150) and Wihan Lubbe 69*(78) were the standout batsmen for the day.
The Titan’s bowling attack only managed to take 4 wickets for the day. The wicket takers were Matthew Boast 2-56, Junior Dala 1-27 and Neil Brand 1-33.
Lions vs Dolphins
There wasn’t much play at the Wanderers with only 26 overs being played in the day. The Dolphins got off to a good start with Tshepang Dithole scoring 47*(86) and Jason Smith scoring 22*(33)
The wicket-takers for the Lions were Lutho Sipamla 1-23 and Tshepo Moreki 1-28.
DAY 2:
Western Province vs Boland
The boys in blue had a dominant Day 2 at Newlands. The hosts declared 592/8. Captain Kyle Verreynne was the standout performer for Province scoring 131*(215) George Linde also had an impressive batting performance scoring 91 (66).
Shaun von Berg took a fantastic 6-126 helping Boland control the run rate on Day 2. Aviwe Mgijima was the last player to take a wicket before Western Province declared.
The Boland innings did not get off to a good start with 3 early wickets falling. However, Pieter Malan 63 (139) and Clyde Reeves-Fortuin 55 (96) dug deep getting 100 partnership. That partnership now gives Boland a solid base on which they can build going into Day 3.
Boland trail Western Province by 433 runs with 7 wickets remaining.
Titans vs NW Dragons
On Day 2 the Titans bowled out the Dragons for 345. After the wicket of Wihan Lubbe fell the Dragons were in a bit of a rough patch however a surprising half-century from Bamanye Xenxe made sure the Dragons secured a 320+ score.
The standout wicket-takers for the Titans were Junior Dala 3-55 and Lesego Kokohlabana 3-66.
The visitors also had a good start with the ball with Viljoen taking 2 early wickets at the start of the Titans innings.
Titans trail North West Dragons by 258 runs with 8 wickets remaining.
Lions vs Dolphins
No play on Friday due to the rain.
